Following the James Bond method...
IGN reports that Joe Russo, co-director of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could end up recasting its lead roles and mentioned the James Bond series as the way to do it.
He said: "Our collective culture has reached an obsessive point with these characters. We're starting to accept the rebranding of the character every few years, just so we can keep the characters in our consciousness. So I do think from that regard – people will appreciate, like with Bond, the interpretation of the character if there are other actors who at some point take up the mantle of it. How soon that will be we'll have no idea, but I think that Bond is a great example of a franchise that has existed where different actors come in and do different interpretations of the characters and that's what excites people about it."
Marvel has previously recast the role of Bruce Banner, the Hulk, twice. Mark Ruffalo plays him now after both Eric Bana and Edward Norton previously played the role.
