[TV] Showtime Renews Nurse Jackie For Season Seven
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.31.2014

Coming Soon reports that Showtime has renewed Nurse Jackie for a seventh season, shortly before the sixth season is set to debut. Showtime Networks President David Nevins made the announcement. The series stars Edie Falco and will be back for season six on April 13 at 9 PM. Season seven will begin filming later this year and is a co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate. The fifth season brought in an average of 3.13 million viewers every week on all platforms, up 14 percent from the previous year.

Here's a synopsis: Edie Falco stars as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant but very flawed emergency room nurse. In the sixth season, Jackie returns to the demons of her addiction. It is a daily high wire act with no net. She's trying to cope with a real relationship (Adam Ferrara), an ex-husband (Dominic Fumusa), a daughter who is growing up way too fast (Ruby Jerins) and a sponsor who she can't seem to shake (guest star Julie White). Something's gotta give.

The series also stars Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Guest stars include the returning Morris Chestnut along with Laura Benanti and Michael Esper. Clyde Phillips is the showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce.
