[Movies] Chris Evans Approves Of Michael B. Jordan As The Human Torch In Fantastic Four Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.01.2014
From one torch to another...
Chris Evans recently told New York Daily News that he approves of the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Evans played the character in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He is currently playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have notably been upset over the casting, with some pointing out that Jordan is a black actor playing a role that was white in the comics. Josh Trank will direct the reboot, based on the characters first created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961.
Evans said: "It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it. But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait. I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good. It's exciting to see what he's going to do, because I know he's going to reinvent it in a way that I could never have imagined. It's almost like we're sharing, the character is ours. I feel like I'm connected with him in a way, It's a nice feeling."
