[Movies] Karen Gillan Talks About Nebula's Rivalry With Gamora In Guardians of the Galaxy Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.03.2014
And the differences between Marvel and Doctor Who...
In an interview with IGN, Karen Gillan spoke about her role as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy. Here are highlights:
On the rivalry between Nebula and Gamora: "There's definitely some rivalry going on between those girls. Absolutely! And they're both extremely fierce women and so when they bicker it's like...Imagine two sisters bickering and pulling each others hair, well they fight like assassins."
On Nebula not always being evil: "I feel like as an actress you have to become a lawyer for your character, especially for the villains. I've found a reason for her to go to the dark side, so I feel like she could find redemption."
On Doctor Who's version of space compared to Marvel's version: "They're both accurate versions of space, if you ask me! I've never been to space, but I imagine that's what it's like. Marvel's version of space and spaceships is 20 times bigger, because they have more money. Actually, it's so funny, it felt quite similar working on Doctor Who to Guardians. I was obviously intimidated working on a film of that scale, because I'd never done that before. Then I stepped on the set and was like, 'Oh, I got this, I've been on these things before.'"
