Are they going to rename the third film?
TheOneRing.net reports that a source has claimed that third Hobbit movie may be getting a title change. According to the site, New Line Cinema has registered the title The Hobbit: Into The Fire.
The next film is currently titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again. According to the source, the new title was registered "because they must register their eventual title, studios often register multiple titles."
The source of the title is possibly a nod to the chapter titled, "Out of the Frying Pan, Into The Fire," from the original novel. The news of the studio registering a new title also doesn't necessarily mean the title of the film will change. It could be a part of a movie tie-in that's currently unknown, and the title was registered to reserve intellectual property rights.
Currently, The Hobbit: There and Back Again is due out on December 17.
