IDW Developing Animated Series based on Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 04.17.2014

IDW Entertainment and George Lopez's Travieso Production Company officially announced today that they are developing an animated TV series based on the IDW comic Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse.

David M. Stern (Ugly Americans, The Simpsons) will be writing the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer. Circle of Confusion (The Walking Dead) will also executive produce the show. IDW Entertainment is funding the development of the series and will market the show to networks.

The story follows the paranormal adventures of an inter-dimensional worm with the ability to animate corpses as host bodies. Created by Ben Templesmith, Wormwood blends horror and humor

IDW Entertainment President David Ozer said on the announcement, "We have assembled an incredible creative team with David M. Stern, George Lopez and Circle of Confusion, which will help bring Wormwood to life as a fun animated television series."

David M. Stern stated, "George Lopez is a comic genius and Ben's graphic novels are epic horror comedy. Building this universe is going to be like a dream. Or maybe more like a super fun nightmare."

George Lopez added, "It's not often I can produce a series about an inter-dimensional worm. I am thrilled to be working with such a great creative team on this clever combination of comedy and horror."

Original creator Ben Templesmith will serve as a creative consultant for the show.
