Deadline reports that Fandango has officially purchased Youtube channel MovieClips, which includes Movieclips.com and 25 different Youtube channels, including the top movie trailers channel. The network includes 45,000 film clips, trailers, and original productions. It has over seven million subscribers and averages 200 million video views per month. The deal will allow Fandango to increase the user's experience in multiple platforms with more video, content and movie discovery. It will combine Fandango's ticket service with MovieClips media to help movie marketers and promotional partners reach a bigger audience.
Fandango President Paul Yanover said: "The MOVIECLIPS acquisition will further serve our fans, enhancing the Fandango experience with amazing video content available at one definitive destination. This deal, along with the launch of our redesigned website and mobile apps, will provide consumers an even better way to explore and share their passion for the movies."
MovieClips was launched in 2009 and was previously owned by ZEFR, Inc. It has brought in almost 5.2 billion vidoe views on its network so far. The MovieClips business and team will move to Fandango while ZEFR will expand its offerings in brand, rights and content management solutions.

The video content on Movieclips will also be featured on Fandango's online and mobile platforms, including a redesigned website and mobile app. The new website has a streamlined ticketing platform and a new "sleek" and "modern" interface to show HD video and trailers, high resolution movie art, celebrity photos and more. It also includes exclusive photo galleries and features, character guides, infographics, quizzes and original video programming (including "Mom's Movie Minute" and "Reel Kids"). There are also personalized ticketing widgets that show new releases at the user's local theaters. The mobile app has been updated to go with the new website. It was recently nominated at the 2014 Webby Awards.
