Thanos Has Been Cast For Guardians of the Galaxy Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 04.25.2014
Marvel won't say who though...
The actor who plays Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy has been cast. Okay, so since the film has already completed production that's probably not a surprise, but this is the first that we've officially heard of it. It came from an interview that Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige did with Empire Magazine about the studio's upcoming films. Feige said, "There is an actor. I'm not sure we want to announce it yet."
Feige continued to talk about the space-based film, saying, "Guardians will feel and seem the most separate [of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films]. But in a summer where people are going to see a lot of sequels, some of which are ours ... we were excited about the idea of bringing something new and totally unexpected to the screen."
Feige also talked about The Avengers: Age of Ultron as well. When asked about whether the theme of the film will be about fathers and sons, he said, "I wouldn't go that far, in terms of it being that direct a theme. Certainly humanity and humanity's place in our world plays a large part of it, but I think Thor's about fathers and sons, more than this. If one were to confirm anything about Paul Bettany and look at the arc and the line of what Paul has done for us, that's pretty unique and cool and exciting and spins right out of stories we've told in the past."
He also talked about why the studio released concept art of the Hulkbuster in the film, revealing, "That little tease was very intentional on our part...The specifics around it we don't have to do for a while. It's a piece of armour we've wanted to see on screen for a long time, let's put it that way. What is the Hulkbuster suit built for?"
Guardians of the Galaxy hits screens on August 1st while The Avengers: Age of Ultron releases on May 1st, 2015.
