Stan Lee Says He Will Cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 04.27.2014
Despite previously saying he wouldn't...
Stan Lee surprised some people when he said a few months ago that he wouldn't appear in Guardians of the Galaxy. And there's a good reason to be surprised; the man who created many of the comic industry's most iconic characters has appeared in almost every Marvel-based film since X-Men in 2000. Worry not though; as Variety reports, Lee confirmed at the C2E2 expo that he will cameo and has even filmed it.
The problem is: he doesn't know what he did.
When asked during a panel about a potential appearance, the ninety-one year-old comic book legend said, "I did, already. I can't tell you what it is, but I can tell you I do not understand what it was or why I did it. It has me with a girl — a very pretty girl — that's all I can tell you."
Lee had previously said in January that he wouldn't be in it, noting, "No, I'm afraid not. That's the one group I didn't create. I didn't write ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.' I'm not even sure who they all are. I can't wait to see the movie."
However, as Variety notes, Lee is credited with co-creating Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel in the film) and that may have changed his mind.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe film opens on August 1st.
