New Photos From Guardians Of The Galaxy, The Expendables 3 and Jupiter Ascending
Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.28.2014

USA Today has provided a new photo for several big movies coming this summer, including Guardians of the Galaxy, The Expendables 3 and Jupiter Ascending.

When asked about playing Nebula in Marvel's latest film, star Karen Gillan said: "It really, really helps to change so drastically physically. It did half the job for me. I feel like people were slightly more intimidated by me. She completely has a reason for being a sadist, but that may not be apparent to everybody else."

The film will be released on August 1. It also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and Glenn Close. It was directed by James Gunn.

Here's a synopsis: An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits--Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand--with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

In Jupter Ascending, out July 18, Eddie Redmayne plays the villain Balem Abrasax. When asked about the relationship of Balem and his siblings (played by Douglas Booth and Tuppence Middleton), he said: ""It's almost Shakespearean really, with interfamily bickering and them trying to usurp each other's power. Then you throw Mila into the mix and it all becomes quite chaotic."

The film was directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski. It also stars Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean and James D'Arcy.

Here's a synopsis: Set in a future where unbeknownst to Earth's residents outer-space families own planets for business purposes, Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) is an Earth living unlucky caretaker of other people's homes. Jupiter encounters Caine Wise (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered interplanetary warrior who came to Earth to reveal that her genetic signature makes her royalty and heir to Earth. Meanwhile he has to protect her from Balem Abrasax (Eddie Redmayne), alien royalty from one of the most powerful dynasties of the Universe, who put a bounty on her head and would rather harvest Earth than lose it to her."

Finally, Sylvester Stallone once again plays Barney Ross in The Expendables 3, which was directed by Patrick Hughes. When asked about the action stars in the film and working with Stallone, co-star Terry Crews said: ""There are no action stars anymore. That era is gone, and it just brings it back to what movies have been all about for years since the days of John Wayne. Sly is bigger than the movie," Crews says. "People tend to be like, 'OK, you've had your fill, you've done your thing,' and they want to push him out to pasture. And Sly refuses to go. That's a beautiful thing. He's a force of nature."

The film also stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell, Kelsely Grammer and Robert Davi. It will be released on August 15.

Here's a synopsis: The mercenary group, the Expendables, led by Barney Ross, come face to face with the team's co-founder Conrad Stonebanks. Ross was forced to kill Stonebanks after he became a ruthless arms trader, but Stonebanks survived and has now made it his mission to destroy the Expendables. Ross resorts to recruiting a new and younger generation of Expendables to help the team overcome his old adversary.
