Another Star Wars: Episode VII Casting Announcement May Be Coming Soon
Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.29.2014

According to The Hollywood Reporter, JJ Abrams is looking for a "substantial" female role for Star Wars: Episode VII.

This would lead to an increase of female roles, as Daisy Ridley is the only new actress added to the cast. Carrie Fisher is the only actress from the returning cast. The rest of the new cast members include John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.

It was revealed earlier this year that the production wanted a mixed-race female in her twenties. Abrams met with Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave) just before the Oscars, but it's unknown which part she was up for. At the time, there were rumors that Maisie Richardson-Sellers would be involved. It's unknown if the young female role is still a part of the current script.
