Author Claims Idea For Gravity Was Stolen From Her
Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.30.2014

TMZ reports that author Tess Gerritsen, who wrote the Rizzoli & Isles crime books, is suing Warner Bros after she claims that someone stole the idea for Gravity from her. She claims she sold New Line Productions her book of the same name in 1999 but an attempt at a movie failed.

Gerritsen said that she knew of the film version that arrived last year but thought the similarities were just a coincidence. Shen she tried to make the book into a screenplay when she wrote new material, which included a space station getting destroyed by debris and the female astronaut drifting alone in space. She then found out that someone connected to the screenplay ended up working on the 2013 film, which went on to earn over $700 million.
