Japanese Fans Think The New Godzilla Looks Fat
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.02.2014

Time reports that Japanese fans aren't exactly happy with the new look of Godzilla as many think he's "too fat". The film will debut on May 16, almost sixty years from the premiere of Gojira in 1954.

One fan said at a Tokyo exhibition of Godzilla paintings: "When I finally saw it, I was a bit taken aback. It's fat from the neck downwards and massive at the bottom."

Other fans claimed the monster had "done a 'super-size me'", becoming a "calorie monster" and "Godzilla Deluxe". One fan on a Japanese forum added: "He's so fat, I laughed."

The original Godzilla wasn't exactly svelte, and the Toho version has actually grown since then. Check out the two photos below and compare the figures of fictional monsters yourself.
