Hugh Jackman Says He Nearly Castrated Himself Filming X-Men: Days of Future Past
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.02.2014

Hugh Jackman says that X-Men: Days of Future Past nearly cost him his manhood in a very literal sense. The Australian actor, who plays Wolverine in the latest film in the mutant franchise, spoke with Graham Norton on the comedian's UK talk show (via The Mirror) and said he was trying to protect his modesty during a nude scene early in the film and his prop claws got in the way.

"There was a very intense first scene and I insisted on a closed set," Jackman said. "I ran round the corner and all the female members of the crew were gathered there. I tried to cover myself and cut my inner thigh - it was just the inner thigh thankfully! The metal claws had to go - you can't have bits and pieces flying off."

Jackman earned praise from Michael Fassbender on the show, who had a lot to say about his co-star's commitment to the role. Fassbender said, "His discipline is incredible - he is up and in the gym at 4.30 in the morning, every morning. When we arrived there was a Jackman effect and we all started training to try and keep up."

The film opens on May 23rd.
