Marc Webb Drops Some Hints About Amazing Spider-Man 3, Sinister Six (SPOILERS)
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.05.2014

Before you get too far into this, be warned: there are some big spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

So The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been released and has received a typically-divisive reaction from fans. (You can read our own Terry Lewis' review here, as well as Anthony Kennedy's thoughts on it here.) There were some big things that went down including the birth of Harry Osborne as Green Goblin, the reveal of the "man in the hat" as Gustav Fiers (aka the Gentleman) and the death of Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy. Now, Grantland has spoken with director Marc Webb about the direction of the next entry as well as the Sinister Six spin-off.

Webb revealed, "I had to talk to [Sinister Six writer/director] Drew Goddard and make sure these things were going to be played out in the future universe. There are some very specific plans, for example, for [Doc] Ock and for Vulture. Or the man in the hat at the end of the first movie. All those things emerge with varying degrees of emphasis."

As to the death of Gwen, Webb said that will have a big effect on Peter and will possibly color the idea that he will get together with Mary Jane Watson in the third film. He noted, "Will Peter Parker love again? When [relationships] end, it's very difficult to imagine emerging from that. I think that's, emotionally, where he's going to start off in the next movie."

The next entry in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise will be directed by Webb again and releases on June 10th, 2016.
