Transcendence Producers Pick Up Film Rights to New Sci-Fi Novel
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.06.2014

A new sci-fi adaptation is in the works. THR reports that Kate Cohen and Marisa Polvino (Transcendence) have acquired the film rights to Richard Morgan's sci-fi novel Thirteen. The tech noir thriller will be written by Kenny Golde (Walking with the Enemy) based on the novel, which was published in 2008 and won the Arthur C. Clarke Award for science fiction literature.

The novel centers on Carl Marsalis, who is a genetic variant known as a "Thirteen." Thirteens are characterized by high aggression and low sociability. Bred to serve in a military capacity, Thirteens were later confined on reservations or exiled to Mars. Carl, having won by lottery the right to return from Mars, works covertly, tracking down renegade Thirteens.
