New Documentary The Art of the Game Looks At Video Game Art Students
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.06.2014

IGN reports that 2K Games and Story Developing will release a feature-length documentary called The Art of the Game. The film follows a group of Academy of Art University students in San Francisco who are trying to find jobs as artists in the video game industry.

Director Matthew Davis Walker said that the documentary looks at the idea that video games are "still treated as time wasting toys." He added: "People overlook that games have tremendous impact on how we learn, communicate ideas, and convey empathy, and they do it in ways we've previously never imagined possible."

The documentary looks at the innovation and passion of the industry, as well as game design courses and degrees.

VP of Marketing at 2K, Matt Gorman, added: "When 2K partnered with the Academy of Art University last year we saw just how much talent the students have, and it inspired us to share their passion and creativity with the world through this documentary."

The film will be available for free on the official Facebook page on May 12. It will debut on the Twitch Channel at 1 PM and 6 PM PDT on May 8.
