Fox Gives Dads, Surviving Jack and Enlisted the Axe
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.07.2014

Fox has put three of their freshman comedies to rest. TV By The Numbers reports that the network has cancelled Dads, Surviving Jack and Enlisted, all of whom were in their first seasons. All three cancellations were expected as despite a fair amount of hype Dads was struggling in the ratings and the other two shows were mid-season replacements that never found their ground in terms of ratings.

Enlisted received a lot of critical acclaim, but as we've seen many a time that doesn't help if the show isn't bringing in ratings. Dads came from Seth MacFarlane and it was being speculated that he may be able to secure a renewal bundled along with Family Guy but that didn't happen.

This leaves Fox with a comedy slate that includes Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Mindy Project and New Girl surviving the tough Tuesday war with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and NCIS along with their animated series Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons and Family Guy. They have several comedy pilots that they could order to series which will likely fill the holes left by their cancelled shows.
