Andrew Baldwin Brought in to Rewrite Next Installment of the Bourne Franchise
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 05.08.2014

THR reports that Andrew Baldwin (Bastille Day) has been tapped by Universal Pictures to write the next installment of the Jason Bourne franchise. Baldwin is rewriting an existing script by Anthony Peckham.

The latest sequel will likely follow the Aaron Cross character, played by Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy, despite the last installment being worst-reviewed and lowest grossing film domestically in the entire franchise. Matt Damon previously expressed interest in potentially returning to the franchise as Jason Bourne, but that seems unlikely at this point as he wanted to see Paul Greengrass back as director. Justin Lin is currently attached to direct the fifth Bourne film.

The sequel is currently due out for an August 14, 2015 release.
