Karen Gillan Says Her Guardians of the Galaxy Fight Scenes Are 'Fierce'
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.12.2014

When we see two women face off in combat in action films, almost without fail it comes off like a choreographed dance with kicks and punches. Not so with Guardians of the Galaxy, if Karen Gillan is right. The Doctor Who alumni, who plays Nebula in the film, spoke with Total Film about her character's battles with Zoe Saldana's Gamora in the Marvel space epic.

"These women character are just so fierce," she said of the two characters. "The fight sequences aren't graceful they're hard and strong."

Gillan, who also has a new sitcom Selfie bowing on ABC this fall to continue her rise to (potential) superstardom, talked about her diet while pepping for the role as well. She said, "I started off with just working out. They wanted me to just look a bit tougher. I started eating lots of protein. I went on this diet of more food, rather than less... I was like, 'You want me to eat everything? Perfect!'"

The film opens on August 1st.
