It topped Homeland and Masters of Sex's debuts...
The premiere of Showtime's new horror series Penny Dreadful was quite a little success for the network. Showtime announced that the series earned 1.44 million viewers in its premiere showing on Sunday night, which is more than the series premieres of Homeland and Masters of Sex did. Both of those shows started off with 1.38 million.
The series added 900,000 views during the show's early debut on Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime for a total of 2.3 million. 62% of the audience was in the coveted 18 - 49 demo which makes it youngest-skewing audience for a Showtime drama since Dexter's series premiere in 2006 with 65%.
