Channing Tatum To Play Gambit In Solo Film After X-Men: Apocalypse Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.13.2014
He has signed on...
We previously reported that X-Men producer Lauren Shuler-Donner said that Channing Tatum was her choice to play Gambit in an X-Men movie. It wasn't reported that a deal had been offered. However, she more or less confirmed that Gambit will be played by Tatum by saying "It's Channing" when asked how Gambit should be portrayed.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Channing Tatum has actually signed a deal and will star in a solo film about the Cajun mutant some time after the release of X-Men: Apocalypse. This means he will take over the role previously played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Not only will Gambit get his own movie, but his Tatum's version of the character will be introduced in Apocalypse. No director has been assigned to the Gambit solo movie.
This comes after Shuler-Donner said she had a secret X-Men movie that she couldn't talk about at the New York premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past. She said: "There's one I'm really itching to tell you about but I can't. You're gonna like it though. I guarantee you. It's really different, but you're going to like it."
