Rory Cochrane Joins the Cast Of Black Mass
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.20.2014

IGN reports that the official website of Black Mass production company Cross Creek Pictures has revealed that Rory Cochrane (Oculus, Dazed and Confused) is now a member of the film's cast. This is a reunion with star Johnny Depp after the two worked on the 2009 gangster movie Public Enemies.

The film is based on the true crime book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill. It follows the story of Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger, who eventually became an FBI informat and is one of their most wanted fugitives.

Cross Creek didn't reveal Cochrane's role but IGN speculates he'll play former (and disgraced) FBI agent John Morris or Whitey's partner Stevie Flemmi. Those are the last two major roles yet to be cast. The film will be directed by Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace) and also stars Joel Edgerton, Guy Pearce, Juno Temple, Jesse Plemons, and Dakota Johnson. You can find photos of Depp on the set here.
