IDW Entertainment and eOne TV Developing V-Wars TV Series
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 05.21.2014

IDW Entertainment and Entertainment One TV announced today in an official press release that they are developing IDW comic V-Wars as a TV series. The show will be the first series project under IDW's first-look co-production agreement with eOne TV.

The pilot will be written by Tim Schlattman (Dexter, Smallville), who will also serve an executive producer for the show. Ted Adams and David Ozer from IDW Entertainment, John Morayniss and Benedict Carver from eOne Television, and David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion (The Walking Dead) will also executive produce the project.

The comic was created by Jonathan Maberry. The story is set in a world transformed by a catastrophic event that caused a millennial-old virus to be released. The virus affects different people based on their DNA and results in vampires that are as unique as their cultures.

Schlattman said on the project, "This is a story that takes everything the audience thinks they know about vampires and throws it out the window. They're not the undead. They're us."

IDW Entertainment President David Ozer added on the show, "Tim brings an incredible vision for V-Wars. The series sets an exciting tone for our first project launched with Entertainment One and will resonate throughout the global television market."

eOne TV CEO Morayniss continued: "V-Wars is the perfect project to kick off our partnership with IDW Entertainment, and lays the groundwork for a slate of ambitious projects to come. We are thrilled to have attracted such a huge talent as Tim to bring this gritty post-apocalyptic world to life."

V-Wars began as a series of prose stories chronicling the first Vampire War, and a second volume is due out this July. IDW Publishing started an ongoing V-Wars comic series in May.
