Edwards is still planning to do more Godzilla films…
In a statement to ShockTillYouDrop.com, Godzilla producer and Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull explained that Gareth Edwards is still attached to direct a planned sequel for the Godzilla reboot, despite his now confirmed directing gig for a new standalone Star Wars movie. The new film, which will be a new story beyond the core Saga, is due out in 2016.
Tull stated the following:
"Gareth's filmmaking talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors. The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth's imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe."
In addition, THR reports that Edwards is attached to do a full Godzilla trilogy and not just a sequel.
