Danny McBride to Star in Vice Principals For HBO
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 05.28.2014

HBO has officially announced that Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride will return to star in a new show for the premium network, a comedy series entitled Vice Principals. The announcement was made today by HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo.

Vice Principals is set for 18 episodes to be filmed, though how many are shown for each season will be decided later. David Gordon Green will executive produce the show. The show was created by McBride and Jody Hill, who also created Eastbound & Down together.

Lombardo said in the press release, "Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can't get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible."

McBride said on the announcement, "HBO was the perfect creative family for 'Eastbound & Down,' and we're excited to pack up the van for the next adventure." David Gordon Green added, "When the idea for the new series became too crazy to keep to ourselves, we knew HBO was the perfect place to unleash it."

The story follows a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals.

McBride, Hill, and Stephanie Laing are also executive producing the show.
