Rhys Ifans Joins The Cast Of Through The Looking Glass
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.30.2014

The Wrap reports that Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) is set to join the cast of Through The Looking Glass, the sequel to Alice in Wonderland. James Bobin (The Muppets) will direct. Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Johnny Depp (The Mad Hatter) and Helena Bonham Carter (the Red Queen) will reprise their roles while Sacha Baron Cohen will play the film's villain, Time.

Ifans, who is younger than Depp by four years, play the Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter's father, who can't hide his brightly-colored hair under a top hat. The actors will both be covered in makeup and prosthetics, so age probably doesn't mean anything. Mark Rylance was previously up for the role.

The film will be produced by Joe Roth and will be released by Disney on May 27, 2016. Ifans previously starred with Wasikowska in Madame Bovary.
