Adam McKay Among Directors Being Considered For Ant-Man
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.30.2014

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios is looking at several directors for Ant-Man, which is set for a July 17, 2015 release. Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad are being considered to replace Edgar Wright, who left the project last week over creative differences over the tone of the film.

Thurber and McKay are known for their comedies while Fleischer is able to go in different genres with comedic elements. McKay may have the edge since he has worked with Paul Rudd on the Anchorman movies. He just finished the Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart comedy Get Hard and works as a producer with Ferrell for Gary Sanchez Productions and the female-centric Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Thurber is currently meeting with Disney to direct Overnight, written by Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street), which is about a father and son who spend the night in a toy story. Disney owns Marvel.

Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) is also up for the job but a source has denied that he was approached. He is currently getting ready to direct Xmas in August, a comedy that stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
