The Belfast Telegraph reports that the Halo digital feature being produced by Ridley Scott is now filming in Belfast, Ireland. It's being directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica) in the Titanic Quarter of the city.
This is months after Microsoft denied rumors that Scott would direct an actual Halo film. Instead, he's the executive producer.
A spokesman for the project said: "343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios and Scott Free Productions are currently working on a Halo digital feature project to be released later this year. The project will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free TV president, David Zucker. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan will direct."
It is being funded by Northern Ireland Screen. Filming happened at both the Titanic Center and the T13 urban sports park, with the production described as "massive". The script was written by Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring and will star Mike Colter (The Good Wife). More details, including the rest of the cast, will be announced next month.
This is a different project from the Halo TV series that Steven Spielberg is working on for Xbox One. Halo follows an intergalactic war between humans and The Covenant, an alien alliance that wants to wipe us out.
