Matthew McConaughey Open to Coming Back for True Detective
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 06.05.2014

Deadline spoke with actor Matthew McConaughey, who said that he's open to appearing in another season of HBO's True Detective.

As of now, McConaughey's character of Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson will not return for the next season. According to McConaughey, he only signed on to the show in the first place under the provision that he filmed a single season. However, he enjoyed the process of filming the show and would like to do another one. He stated: "I liked True Detective. The whole series and the experience of making it, so much that I'd be open to doing another one now. At the time, I was looking at six months and not beyond that."

He added, "That was always how I saw it. One season, eight episodes, a finite beginning, middle and end, goodbye, look forward to watching it. If HBO had wanted an option on me for a season two or three, I wouldn't have done it."

The next season of the show will be set in California and feature three lead roles.
