Lionsgate Facing Possible Lawsuit Over Draft Day
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.12.2014

TMZ reports that even though Draft Day barely made back its budget and could be considered a flop, Lionsgate is facing legal trouble over it.

Lionsgate Films has filed legal documents trying to stop a possible lawsuit from William (Wil) Mara. His novel The Draft covers the NFL Draft, which was the plot of the film. Mara claims that Lionsgate used his book for the movie and claimed the film was an original story. Lionsgate claims that the book and movie after significantly different (including the teams, plots and characters). They also said that while their movie takes place on an actual draft day, most of the book does not.

Lionsgate is now trying to get the entire matter resolved before the film arrives in DVD.
