Hank Williams III Says Only An American Should Play His Grandfather
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.18.2014

TMZ reports that Hank Williams III said that only an American should play his grandfather Hank Williams in a biopic. British actor Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) will play the country singer in the film I Saw The Light.

Williams is known for his songs "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "Hey Good Lookin'". He died on January 1, 1953 at the age of 29 after years of alcohol and prescription drug abuse. His grandson believes that producers should have cast Matthew McConaughey (who is 44) because he represents the South in movies and real life. He pointed out The Dallas Buyers Club as an example of McConaughey's ability to act.
