Zombieland 2 Possibly Still Alive at Sony Pictures
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 06.26.2014

Per a report from Variety, director Ruben Fleischer is still attached to direct Zombieland 2 for Sony Pictures.

According to the report on Fleischer: "His upcoming film projects include directing "Spy Hunter" for producer Dan Lin and Warner Bros.; directing and producing "Zombieland 2″ at Sony; and directing and producing an untitled sci-fi project at Sony."

JoBlo.com reports that the project had been apparently dead and buried for some time with the main cast having other commitments and the Zombieland TV series failing on Amazon.

Previously, Fleischer said the following on a Zombieland sequel last year: "Needless to say it was a continuation of the original story with the same characters. I guess the only thing I could really say is that the threat to our heroes wasn't only zombies, like they encounter other people that they're all jockeying for positions."

The report also mentions that Fleischer has signed a two-year overall deal with Universal Television that will let him create and develop new drama and comedy shows for network and cable. He will also executive produce and sometimes direct other scripted projects. He announced the creation of his production company The District and his partnership with RipCord Productions' David Bernad, who will work as a producing partner. Bernad will also executive produce The District's projects.

Universal Television executive vice-president Bela Bajaria said: "Ruben is wildly creative and his work successfully spans comedy and drama. His talent and enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to our strong team of creators at Universal Television."
