Kevin Bacon Books Role in Johnny Depp's Mob Film

Kevin Bacon is set to play a role he knows well in his next film: that of an FBI agent. Deadline reports that Bacon has signed onto a role in the film starring Johnny Depp as Irish mobster Whitey Bulger. The film was previously known as Black Mass but is currently untitled.

Bacon will play Charles McGuire, the FBI Special Agent in charge of the Boston field office and the boss of John Connolly. Connolly is the FBI agent who allowed Bulger to evade law enforcement and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history. Joel Edgerton will plpay Connolly.

The film is currently aiming for a fall 2015 release.
