Sam Raimi Eyeing War Drama The Outpost
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 06.26.2014

Sam Raimi is taking aim at a new war film. Variety reports that the Evil Dead creator is set to produce and possibly direct The Outpost, which is an adaptation of Jake Tapper's book about Combat Outpost Keating. Raimi will supervise the scriptwriting, which will be done by Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy (The Fighter).

Outpost Keating is located in Afghanistan about fourteen miles from the Pakistani border. It saw fifty-three Americans prevail against nearly 400 Taliban fighters in a day-long clash on October 3rd, 2009.

Raimi said in a statement, "'The Outpost' is an epic story of bravery, courage, and sacrifice of our men in uniform, and is absolutely a picture meant for the big screen. I'm honored to be a part of it."
