Andy Serkis Talks Working On Star Wars: Episode VII and Avengers: Age of Ultron Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 06.30.2014
He's working on both films...
Andy Serkis is the true king of performance capture; at some point it won't surprise me when a movie comes out featuring nothing but Andy Serkis voice work and mo-cap (possibly directed by Andy Serkis, if he gets ambitious). And now Serkis, who is doing the promotional rounds for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, spoke with Sci-Fi Now about his work on Star Wars: Episode VII as well as Variety about his role in that and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Serkis told Sci-Fi Now, "the Imaginarium [his motion-capture studio] is providing all of the performance characters, and I myself am playing a character in it."
As to his work on both of the films he said, "The Imaginarium is the performance capture consultant, and I'm playing a role (in both films). On The Avengers, I've been working closely with Mark Ruffalo." When asked if he's actually on screen with Ruffalo's Hulk he said, "I'm not at liberty to mention. But it's all the same to me. I've never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It's just basically what you wear to the set that's different."
Star Wars: Episode VII opens December 18th, 2015 while Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1st of the same year.
