Kevin Smith Planning Tusk Spin-Off
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 07.07.2014

Kevin Smith may have said that he was considering retirement back in 2011, but that's no longer the case. Smith had made the statement during the promotion for his film Red State, saying that he planned to make his hockey film Hit Somebody and then would likely be hanging it up. However, speaking with Screen Daily, he said that this is no longer the case and in fact he already has a spin-off to his upcoming horror film Tusk planned.

Smith said of the spin-off, titled Yoga-Hosers, "Like Tusk, it sprang out of a podcast. There are two characters in a convenience store in Tusk that you see for five minutes, very much Ronsencrantz and Guildenstern. I've built a whole movie around them, and I have brought one of the other characters from Tusk back."

When asked about his retirement Smith said, "I am definitely not going to retire. I am only going to make films that only I could ever make or would ever make." This echoes similar statements he had made back in December. He also told Screen Daily that his Krampus movie Anti-Claus has been sold to XYZ and that he hopes to shoot Clerks III after that film.

Tusk stars Haley Joel Osment, Justin Long, Genesis Rodriguez and Michael Parks and follows a young guy who teams up with his best friend's girlfriend after his friend goes missing in the backwoods of Canada. Along the way, they make a horrific discovery.
