NBC Chairman Defends Decision To Cancel Community
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.14.2014

NME reports that NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt has defended the decision to cancel Community due to poor ratings. It will return for a sixth season (13 episodes) on Yahoo Screen, which will likely be its last.

While at the TCA Press Tour media tour, he said: "That sixth season thing was created by them [the fans] - I'm surprised they didn't say '10 seasons and a movie'. And [the mantra started] before my time [at NBC]. It didn't just make sense for us to have another season of it at that level of audience. I don't know if we'll ever know how many will watch it on Yahoo... I'm curious if they'll have a bigger audience with it than we did."

The series follows a group of adult students at a community college in Greendale, Colorado. It starred Donald Glover (who left in season five), Joel McHale and Alison Brie.
