Ben Kingsley To Star In Spike TV's Tut
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.14.2014

Deadline reports that Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3, Ender's Game) will star in Spike TV's event series Tut. He will play Ay, the Grand Vizier to King Tutankhamun, who has a lot of power and influence as the top adviser to the King.

The miniseries runs for six hours and follows Tutankhamun (King Tut). Tut was the youngest Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt (from 1333 to 1323 BC). His golden sarcophagus is one of the symbols of the civilization. Filming begins in the fall in Morocco and Canada for a 2015 release.

Sharon Levy, Spike TV's Executive Vice President of Original Series, said: "Tut is the biggest and most ambitious project in Spike's history. Who better to lead the cast than one of the greatest actors of our generation Ben Kingsley. The character he plays, Ay, is the true power behind the Tutankhamun throne. We are so fortunate to have an actor of Ben Kingsley's stature bring this character to life for Spike."

This is Spike TV's first miniseries since 2007's The Kill Point. It will be produced by Muse Entertainment with Joel S. Rice and Michael Prupas executive producing. Other executive producers include Greg Gugliotta (The Fosters), Michael Vickerman (Impact), Elice Island Entertainment's Jeremy Elice, Angela Mancuso (Spartacus), and Director David Von Ancken (Hell On Wheels). It will be written by Michael Vickerman, Peter Paige & Bradley Bredeweg (The Fosters). Levy will also be an executive producer. Irene Litinsky, Gilles Perrault (Being Human), and Guy Louthan (The Call) will produce.
