That's how it's currently tracking...
The Wrap reports that Disney and Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy is tracking for a $60 million opening weekend when it debuts on August 1. The film is directed by James Gunn from a script he co-wrote with Nicole Perlman. It stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Josh Brolin.
While Marvel movies (including X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier) have been making a lot of money this summer, Guardians has lesser-known character to non-comic fans, including Star Lord (Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Cooper), Thanos (Brolin) and Groot (Diesel). The budget of the movie was $170 million. It will open against the James Brown biopic Get On Up, which stars Chadwick Boseman (42).
