Matt Reeves Hoping to Direct The Invisible Woman
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 07.14.2014

Fresh off the success of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves tells Coming Soon that he already has his next two films planned out. One of those, the next Planet of the Apes, we already knew about and will release on July 29th, 2016. Reeves also told the site that he is looking to take on his long-desired original sci-fi story, The Invisible Woman. Reeves originally planned to make the film his next after Cloverfield in 2008 but got waylaid to other projects.

"That's still a movie I desperately want to make," Reeves told the site. "If I don't make it right before this one, I'll make it right after the next ape film."

As to the film's mood, he said, "It's a very intimate character story, with a similar tone to Let Me In, a Hitchcockian suspense style. It's an anatomy of this one woman's desperation. You follow her through ever step of what seems like extreme behavior, but at the end you hopefully see why every step was made."

"I doubt if I would make it right before [the next 'Apes']," he concluded, "because this one is going to be such an enormous undertaking to get going. I'm supposed to write it as well with Mark Bomback."
