Sacha Baron Cohen's Grimsby Facing Boycott From Titular English Town
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 07.15.2014

Somehow I don't think this will hurt the worldwide grosses all that much, but I suppose it's the principle of the matter. TMZ reports that the town of Grimsby in England is angry with Sasha Baron Cohen's new movie of the same name as the town because of how it portrays them as "hooligans and low-lifes."

The site reports that some within the city are threatening to boybott the film's release if it isn't re-edited to portray the townspeople more appropriately, concerned that people will confuse the reality of the town with that within the film. However, the town's city council isn't supporting a boycott, noting that the film is a farcical comedy and isn't even shooting in the city.

The film stars Cohen as a soccer hooligan who is forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a British Black Ops agent (Mark Strong). It will be released on July 31, 2015.
