The Big Bang Theory Cast Still Negotiating New TV Deals for Eighth Season
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 07.16.2014

Deadline reports that the starts of The Big Bang Theory have yet to sign new contracts, despite the show's eighth season set to start production on July 30.

The show is TV's most-watched and highest-rated comedy and was renewed for three seasons this spring. The deal was contingent on the in-limbo cast members re-signing. Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco reportedly negotiate as a trio and looking to increase their per-episode salary from $300,000 (plus a quarter-of-a-point on the back end) to possibly $1 million an episode. The actors and Warner Bros. TV are said to be far apart, with two weeks until Showtime.

Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are currently paid $125,000 and $75,000 per episode, respectively, and are also seeking considerable raises. Later-season cast additions Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik are on different contract cycles and already have deals for the coming season.

Even if the July 30 deadline is missed, a post-Labor Day production start would still afford the show enough time to deliver its hour-long season opener on Monday, September 22.
