Robert Downey Jr. Talks About A Possible Return For Iron Man 4 Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.23.2014
But the future is uncertain...
In an interview with EW.com, Robert Downey Jr. spoke about the possibility of his return for another Iron Man movie. Marvel has already said they plan on making more Iron Man films but it's unknown if the role will be recast. Another Iron Man movie could be part of Marvel's schedule through 2019, as they revealed several untitled movies that will be released between now and then.
When asked if he would like to return on the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Downey said: "It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement. Right now, this has just been swell, hasn't it? This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time."
Downey was listed by Forbes as the highest-paid actor in the world with $75 million in the past year. This is mostly from his backend deal for Iron Man 3, which earned $1.21 billion at the box office last year. It's second only to Frozen worldwide, which earned $1.27 billion.
Downey added: "It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out. The future is, as usual, uncertain."
