The film stars Rupert Friend...
Hitman: Agent 47 screened its first trailer at Comic-Con on Friday. IGN has the report, noting that star Rupert Friend wasn't there because of his commitments to Homeland but introduced the trailer via a pre-recorded video. The recap of the trailer is below:
The trailer began on a close-up of the famous barcode of the title character, with Agent 47 being held in an interrogation room while the man who's questioning him carefully aims a rifle at the hitman. The interrogator asks his name, with the agent answering "47." That's not a name, he's told. "But it is mine," says 47. He then adds, "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me." Soon enough, 47 proves that it's he who actually has the upper hand, as he kicks the table up so that as the gun fires, it shoots off the chain of his handcuffs to take care of business.
From there, we also meet [Zachary] Quinto and [Hannah] Ware's characters in the trailer; they play John Smith and Katia van Dees, respectively. The rest of the trailer plays out with a car chase kicking in, bullets flying, and Ware going for a swim! The footage makes the film feel like a reboot rather than a straight-up sequel, though it seems the filmmakers are choosing to leave that question pretty open-ended.
The site also reports that Ware and Quinto were present for the panel. Ware revealed that Katie is a big challenge for Agent 47, saying that "it's an exciting and terrifying relationship" that the two share. Quinto said that Smith is 47's equal in a way and that the film is very rooted in the relationships of the characters.
