Trailer For The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Screened At Comic-Con
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.26.2014

IGN reports that Warner Bros. screened a trailer from The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies during a panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con. The panel was moderated by Tolkien fan Stephen Colbert, who wore the costume he wrote in his cameo for The Desolation of Smaug. Peter Jackson was there with the film's stars Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), Lee Pace (Thranduil), Benedict Cumberbatch (Smaug), Luke Evans (Bard), Graham McTavish (Dwalin), Andy Serkis, and co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens.

A gag reel and montage of scenes from past Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. Here's a description of the trailer: "The trailer was very ominous and moody with a pervasive sense of finality felt throughout. Pippin's song "Edge of Night" from Return of the King plays over footage of Bilbo recounting how he will never forget "that day" and who he lost. We see Bard the Bowman telling Thorin that he can have peace or war. Thorin says he will have war. And obviously there are lots of battle scenes as one would expect given the title.

The film arrives on December 17.
