Lionsgate Sues Over The Expendables 3 Film Leak

The studio is taking aim at piracy...
History is repeating itself with the Expendables franchise. As you may recall, back in 2010 the first film leaked online and production company Nu Image sued over 20,000 users for downloading the film. Now with a stolen digital copy of The Expendables 3 circulating the internet, Lionsgate is taking legal action against the leakers.
According to THR, Lionsgate filed suit in Californian federal court against John Does 1 through 10 for the leak, saying that they became aware of the leak on July 24th and that all pirated downloads have come from the one source. The lawsuit is going after the operators of several torrent sites, noting that it tried to send cease and desist letters to the sites without response.
The studio is asking for a temporary restraining order on each site prohibiting them from being associated with the leaked film via hosting, links, distribution, reproduction, or copying. They are also asked that the defendants be prohibited from operating their websites and that they take it upon themselves to recover every stolen file. (Good luck with that last one.)
