The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Star Marilyn Burns Dead At 65
Posted by Joseph Lee on 08.05.2014

It's been a tough week for horror fans. First special effects wizard Dick Smith passed away last Wednesday. Now TMZ reports that Marilyn Burns, who played Sally Hardesty in the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, has passed away at the age of 65.

Sally manages to survive the maniacal Leatherface and his cannibal family all the way to the end of the film, showing off Burns' impressive screaming skills as she flees in terror from the masked killer. She's one of the few final girls that didn't return to get killed off in a sequel, something not even A Nightmare on Elm Street's Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) or Friday the 13th's Alice Hardy (Adrienne King) can claim.

She was found by her family at her home in Houston and a cause of death has not been revealed. The Medical Examiner's Office in the city has her body and an autopsy will be performed.

After Massacre, Burns would have cameos in 1994's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation and 2013's Texas Chainsaw 3D. She didn't act very much but she did have a role in the 1976 TV movie Helter Skelter.

411 would like to give our condolences to her family, friends and fans.
