More and more each day...
As part of a Variety story on 20th Century Fox's Jim Gianopulos, James Cameron revealed that he's still confident in the stories of the Avatar sequels. Just over a year ago he announced three sequels which would be developed and filmed at the same time, then released each year starting in 2016.
He said: "There's nothing I need to say as an artist about the state of the world and human affairs that I can't do through the lens of the ĎAvatar' universe. We've had a couple of years to think through the story arc of the next three films, and every day that goes by, I believe in the stories I'm telling more and more. We're not coming out of the block fast to capitalize on the last film."
The films will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver. Avatar 2 arrives in December 2016, followed by Avatar 3 (December 2017) and Avatar 4 (December 2018). The first film is the highest-grossing movie of all time with $2.782 billion worldwide. The sequels will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through Lightstorm Entertainment. The sequels are being written by Cameron, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.
