Charlie Hunnam in Talks to Star in New King Arthur Film
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 08.27.2014

Deadline reports that Charlie Hunnam is in talks to star in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur project for Warner Bros. The project has gone through years of development hell at the studio.

Hunnam would play the role of Arthur opposite Idris Elba as Merlin. Coincidentally, Elba previously portrayed an authority and mentor figure role for Hunnam in Pacific Rim. The project, written by Joby Harold, is envisioned to span six films.

Hunnam currently stars in the hit FX TV show, Sons of Anarchy, which is set to end later this year. He is said to be in "final negotiations" for the Arthur role. The project has gone through many iterations and directions over the past several years at Warner Bros., but it seems now the studio has settled on Ritchie and Harold's take.

Akiva Goldsman is producing the film through Weed Road. Harold is producing through Safehouse Pictures with Tory Tunnell. Ritchie is also producing the film alongside his partner, Lionel Wigram.
